A powerful encounter, a greater privilege bestowed upon a woman; unlike the fall at the garden of Eden where the sentence of sorrow was on her head... now she brings news of comfort. From a troubled past to a devoted lover of Christ. The first witness of resurrection and first commissioned messenger of this sight. Mary Magdalene is in distraught, her spirit is wounded from grief after death and fear that "they have taken my Lord away". The sight of angels seem not to perplex her ...the arrangements of burial linens/wrappings does not awaken her curiosity. She was diligently seeking her Saviour and only at the sight of Him would she snap out of this state. However, the one she addresses thinking He is the gardener calls out her name; Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means “Teacher”).
